Kundapur, Dec 22,2012: Udupi District Minister and State Minister for Mujrai and Ports Kota Srinivas Poojari paid a surprise visit to the Kundapur Taluk Office on December 21, Friday. On noticing that the Tahsildar was absent without any prior notice, he directed the Assistant Commissioner to serve a show cause notice to the Tahsildar.
The Minister also cross checked the attendance register and the staff present in the office. When he realized that SR Naika, the village accountant was abstaining despite him having signed the register, he said the accountant would be suspended for a week. He also said he would instruct the DC to conduct an investigation and initiate suitable action.
The minister also took serious note of the absence of even the Deputy Tahsildar of the Food and Civil Supplies who though had been on official duty had not mentioned the same in the activity register.
When it was brought to his notice that the land conversion and survey works were being delayed, he assured to take steps to appoint five additional surveyors. Poojari also promised to take necessary steps towards early clearance of files pertaining to welfare schemes.
Kundapur Assistant Commissioner B Sadashiva Prabhu, Kundapur TMC President K Mohandas Shenoy and Venugopal, former president of Urban Development Authority, were also present.
