Mangaluru, February 1, 2025: Police have shot at an accused in the Kotekar Co-operative Bank robbery case after he tried to flee by attacking the cops during a spot mahajar on Saturday. The incident took place at Ajjinadka when the accused Murugan D Thevar tried to attack cops. Acting swiftly, Ullal Inspector Balakrishna shot the accused in his leg. He was subsequently detained and admitted to a private hospital in Derlakatte.
Murugan was taken to Ajjinadka following information that he had visited the place which happens to be the hometown of the prime accused Shashidharan who is absconding.
This is the second instance of the police firing at an accused in the bank dacoity case. Earlier on January 21, police had opened fire on accused Kannan Mani (36) after he tried to escape at a place near Katungara Gudde during spot mahajar.
