Mangalore, January 17: During a formal programme organized on Kuchikad Road today, the Kuchikad Road was renamed Flight Lieutenant Ronald Kevin Serrao Road.
The people of Kulshekar had submitted appeals to Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) and the district administration to rename the road in honor of Flight Lieutenant Ronald Kevin Serrao, who died in a Jaguar aircraft accident on Jan 18, 2007. The authorities gave their approval.
Today, MLA Yogish Bhat inaugurated the road under its new name Flight Lieutenant Ronald Kevin Serrao Road. Bishop of Mangalore Diocese Rev Fr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Corporator Mariamma Thomas, Colonel Sharath Kumar Bhandary, Lieutenant John Serrao, Flight Lieutenant Deepika Serrao, and several members of the public were present during the occasion.
