Mangalore, July 2, 2012 : The Akhila Bharatha Mundala Yuvajana Vedike celebrated the 153rd birth anniversary of Kudmul Ranga Rao at SDM Law College on Sunday.
N. Yogesh Bhat, deputy speaker of the legislative assembly, said that Kudmul Ranga Rao had inspired even Mahatma Gandhi and fought for the right to education, equality, and employment of the backward classes. He also suggested that Wenlock Hospital, which has been giving high quality treatment to the poor, must be renamed as Kudmul Ranga Rao Road. He added that he will discuss the issue with concerned officials.
The organizers released Kudmul Ranga Rao’s biography and the website mundala.org. The book reveals the story of Kudmul Ranga Rao’s inspiring life, right from his birth in Kasargod on July 26, 1859 to his fight for the right to education of backward classes. He also fought to provide drinking water and houses for the backward classes and did all he could to protect them from the oppressive upper classes.
MLA U. T. Khader released the biography and said that the book will inspire young people, who hardly know anything about his contributions.
