Kulshekar parish celebrates annual feast

Mangalore, Sep 19: The parish of Kulshekar, Holy Cross Church, celebrated its annual feast on September 19, Sunday.

Rector of St. Joseph’s Seminary Fr. Joseph Martis was the chief celebrant of the festive Holy Mass with Fr. Valerian Pinto, the parish priest of Kulshekar; Fr. Arun Lobo, the assistant parish priest; Fr. John Monis, the assistant parish priest; and Fr. Edwin Pinto, the headmaster of Kallianpur Milagres High School, concelebrating.

In his homily, Fr. Edwin Pinto spoke of the importance of the devotion to the Holy Cross. Fr. Valerian Pinto proposed the vote of thanks, during which he urged the parishioners to pray for the successfully celebration of the centenary of the consecration of Holy Cross Church, which will be held in 2011 – 12. Late Monsignor Paul Perini SJ, the bishop of Mangalore in 1911 consecrated this church.

Victor Vaz, the vice president of the Parish Council of Kulshekar; Secretary George D’Souza; and Susheel Noronha, the former vice president of the parish council, were also present for the annual day celebrations.
