Kundapur, March 1, 2013: In an incident that has left the residents of Kundapur shocked, two unidentified persons who gained entry into a house at Gulvady near Mavinakatte here on February 28 afternoon, on the pretext of giving a wedding invitation, looted the woman in the house of her valuables.

The incident took place at around 12.15 pm when two strangers arrived at the house of Prakashchandra Shetty, an employee of Kundapur branch of Vijaya Bank, when his wife was alone in the house.
The two who had invitation cards in their hands, entered the house and later gagged Amritha Shetty (55), tied down her hands and fled with her mangalasutra and four gold bangles. They even threatened to kill the woman who tried to resist them and scream for help. Amritha who sustained minor injuries has been treated at a hospital in Kundapur. The broad daylight robbery that too in a busy area has left the residents of the area shocked.
Kundapur police rushed to the spot and pressed finger print experts and a dog squad into service. As per the version of a neighbouring woman and a boy, two men were suspiciously lurking in the area since morning in a two-wheeler.
