Mangalore, Jan19, 2013 : The newly constructed BBM Block at the University College in Mangalore was inaugurated by Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof. TC Shivashankeramurthi on January 18, Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said a post-graduation centre is in the pipeline at the college, at an estimated cost of Rs 1.1 crore. The Vice Chancellor further said another sum of Rs 80 lakh would be utilized towards a new block and construction of eight rooms and an auditorium. He further said a sum of Rs 1.9 crore has already been spent on the construction of a new building.
The Vice Chancellor also spoke about the plans to have a new road inside the campus and the renovation of the main building which he said would be completed by July this year.
He also pointed out that the failure to get quality education and the lack of hands-on training in colleges has left majority of the graduates and those who have completed technical courses unemployable.
Mangalore University Registrar Prof P S Yadapadithaya, former registrar Prof Chinnappa Gowda, HR Lakshminarayana Bhatta, Principal of the College, and others were present. The contractor of the BBM block Hemanth Shetty was felicitated.
