Mangalore, July 5, 2012: Traffic along the NH17 stretch between Nanthoor and Pumpwell has been disrupted from the morning of July 5, Thursday because of a landslide.
The hillock nearby has caved in and the mud has fallen all over the national highway, which is in the process of being repaired. As a result, motorists are finding it very difficult to use this highway. A number of motorists were observed turning into this road at Pumpwell and Nanthoor and then returning from the site of the landslide as they were unaware of the landslide.
Owing to the failure of the traffic police to place barricades at Pumpwell and Nanthoor, motorists were put to a lot of inconvenience. To make matters worse, soil is continuously falling off the hillock, causing traffic block and congestion in this area.
