Kundapur, Oct 29: A leopard and a dog fell into a well and died at Mallari, Vandse in Kundapur during the early morning hours of Oct 28, Thursday.

The 30-feet deep well is located in the property of Chandra Ganiga. The leopard, which was chasing the stray dog, obviously did not notice the well. The family woke when it heard the roars of the leopard; however, they arrived at the scene a bit too late to save the two creatures.

Uday Devadiga and Sudarshan Ganiga, the local swimmers, jumped into the well and retrieved the carcasses. Forest Officer Sadananda, Forester Kiran Babu, and other people of the locality helped the two.

The body of the leopard was handed over to forest officials.
