Mangaluru, Dec 06, 2014: Principal District and Sessions Judge Uma M.G. has informed that a total of 49,946 cases including 10,301 criminal cases, 418 civil cases and 377 vehicle accident cases were settled in the Lok Adalat sessions held in different parts of the district during the last one month period.
Speaking to reporters here on December 6, Saturday, Uma M.G. informed that the Lok Adalats were held in different courts of the district from September 1 to December 5.
She said a total compensation of Rs 4,42,84,154 was disbursed after settling the accident cases. A total of 37,854 traffic cases were also settled and a fine amount of Rs 26,60,100 collected, she informed.
She further stated that Rs 3,13,85,146 was collected after settling 996 pre-litigations involving Union Bank, Central Bank, Bank of Maharashtra, Corporation Bank, Canara Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Allahabad Bank, BSNL and Idea Cellular companies.
Lok Adalats would be convened every Friday and Saturday to ensure early clearance of several pending cases, the District Judge informed.
