Mangalore, Nov 15: Lokayuktha officials form Karwar and Udupi with the help of Mangalore SP raided Mangalore RT Office and seized unaccounted Rs. 67440 in cash on Monday, 6 PM, November 15.

 

 

 

 

 

The cash was picked up from waste boxes and hidden files inside the Regional Transport Office, Mangalore. Six persons working as brokers and proxies of the officers in addition to two officials were arrested. The arrested persons were identified as Santhosh, Nagaraj, Keshav Pai, Raghu, Yogesh, Prabhakar …

 

 

The raid was made based on the complaint lodged by one Mr.Ashok. A full team of Lokayuktha officials came in a mini bus well prepared to net the culprits.  The lokayuktha officers of Karwar and Udupi along with Mangalore DSP, Prbhakar Mane and Inspector, Udaya Nayak reached the RT Office around 5.30 and surrounded the complex preventing the culprits to get away. Most of the proxies used to sit in the staff tables and demand money for every transaction. Broker - official nexus is well known in RT Ofices through out Karnataka.

It is a fact that corruption is common affair in RT Office and without greasing hands nothing happens.
