Lorry Carrying Soft Drinks Overturns and Catches Fire on NH-75 Near Maani

Mangaluru, Feb 23, 2025: A lorry transporting soft drinks overturned and caught fire near Sattikallu, close to Maani, on National Highway 75 on Sunday, February 23.

The incident occurred when the driver, Mohammad Irfan (37), lost control of the vehicle, resulting in the crash. Sparks from the collision ignited the tyres, and the fire quickly spread to other parts of the lorry.

The driver sustained injuries in the accident and was rushed to a hospital in Puttur for treatment. The lorry’s cargo of soft drink bottles spilled onto the highway, with several bottles catching fire and intensifying the blaze.

Firefighters from Bantwal promptly reached the spot and brought the fire under control.

No other casualties were reported. Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
