Mangaluru, March 27, 2025: Mangaluru City South MLA D. Vedavyasa Kamath said on Wednesday that Mangaluru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) has imposed restrictions on the entry of people to its office at Urwa Stores, proving inconvenient to many.
Addressing presspersons, the MLA said that MUDA is a government office. Imposing restrictions on the visit of people is not right. He said that MUDA should control corrupt practices in its office. “Its office has emerged as a den of corruption in the past two years,” the MLA alleged.
Instead of fixing this issue, MUDA has now restricted the entry of people to a government office taking away the rights of people, he said.
“It (restricting entry of people) is like closing down a road on the pretext that more accidents will be reported on the road,” the MLA said, questioning the time (3 p.m. to 5.30 p.m.) fixed for people to meet officials.
He added that MUDA was already facing a dearth of officials. A Town Planner at MUDA has been put on deputation to Bengaluru three days in a week. Hence, the official will have only three days left to attend to the people’s files in a week in Mangaluru.
