Mangaluru, January 3, 2025: MP Brijesh Chowta met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Friday to discuss the comprehensive development of Dakshina Kannada district.
During the meeting, the MP urged the minister to establish an NIA unit in Mangaluru at the earliest, set up an Indian Coast Guard Academy for enhancing coastal security, establish a Sainik School and military base in Dakshina Kannada, and improve rail and road connectivity between Mangaluru and Bengaluru.
This marked Brijesh Chowta’s first official meeting with Amit Shah since assuming office as an MP, where he deliberated on various issues critical to the district’s progress.
The MP also emphasized the need to focus on the development of the cooperative banking sector in the coastal region. He stated that promoting cooperative banks would provide better financial support to small-scale entrepreneurs and farmers. The request was made keeping in mind Amit Shah’s role as the Minister of Cooperation.
