Mangaluru, March 26, 2025: Dakshina Kannada MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta, on Tuesday met Defence Ministry Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh in New Delhi and requested him to expedite the process of providing administrative approval for the setting up of the first Coast Guard Academy in Mangaluru.
He in his memorandum to the officer stated that the Coast Guard Academy was sanctioned in 2017 and that 159.03 acre land was sanctioned for the purpose at Kenjar by the KIADB and that the land transfer process too was complete. Even the DPR has been submitted to the ministry, he said and urged for expediting administrative approval process for the proposed Academy.
The Academy is planned to be set up at a cost of Rs 1,385 crores.
The MP has said that the Defence Secretary has positively responded to his request.
