MRPL Green zone land acquisition process: District in-charge minister directs announcement of compensation package

Mangaluru, August 31, 2024: D.K. District In-Charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao has directed the immediate announcement of a compensation package for those displaced due to the acquisition of 27 acres of land in Jokatte village for the construction of a green zone as part of the third phase of MRPL.

The minister was speaking at a meeting held on Friday at the D.K. District Collector’s office, where issues faced by locals regarding the land acquisition for the MRPL green zone were discussed.

The responsibility for conducting a survey related to land acquisition for the third phase of the green zone has already been assigned to KPT Polytechnic Institute. The survey report is expected to take three months, but the minister instructed that the compensation package for the displaced should be announced before that.

The minister emphasized that the green zone survey should be conducted scientifically and practically, with a detailed report on the houses and lands in the area. He also stated that he would soon visit the location where the land is to be acquired.

MRPL officials mentioned that the survey report and the consent of the villagers are necessary for the land acquisition for the green zone. They assured that the compensation package would be presented in the board meeting for swift decision-making.

The meeting was attended by District Collector Mullai Mugilan M.P., Joint Director of Industries Gokuldas Nayak, KIADB Special Land Acquisition Officer Raju, social activist Muneer Katipalla, former Taluk Panchayat member Basheer, and others.
