MRPL-MSNIM Conduct Vigilance Awareness Competitions 2022

Mangaluru, Nov 07, 2022: Manel Srinivas Nayak Institute of Management, Bondel, Mangalore, in association with Mangalore Refineries and Petrochemicals Ltd., hosted the MRPL-MSNIM Vigilance Awareness Competitions 2022 for students as a part of MRPL’s Vigilance Awareness Week. The theme for this year was ‘Corruption Free India for a Developed Nation’. Vigilance Awareness Week is observed every year to raise public awareness about corruption and encourage all stakeholders to collectively fight against it.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Competitions were held in Poster Making, Street Play, Debate, Quiz (Online & Offline), Short One Minute Video (Online), and Essay (Online - English, Kannada, and Hindi) There was an overwhelming response for the competitions, with 192 students from 21 degree colleges participating in the event, which was held on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at the institute campus in Bondel, in the city.

Inauguration Ceremony

B.H.V. Prasad, Executive Director (Projects), MRPL, was the chief guest during the inauguration ceremony. Manel Annappa Nayak, President, Women’s National Education Society (WNES), presided over the programme.

In his address, Mr. B.H.V. Prasad spoke about why it is important to spread awareness and educate the young generation about the evil of corruption. "Corruptions can happen in various forms like dishonesty, nepotism, and the use of influence. It is important for us to practice honesty, integrity, transparency and accountability in our day to day lives," he said.

Observing that corruption adversely affects the quality of labour and increases poverty, he said that maintaining good moral standards and the values of honesty and integrity help an individual have self-esteem and live fearlessly. "MRPL has a zero tolerance policy against corruption. We are born in a great country, and we should value our citizenship with pride. That is why MSNIM and MRPL join hands every year in this noble cause of spreading awareness against corruption during Vigilance Week,’ he said.

Dr. Molly S. Chaudhuri, Director, MSNIM, welcomed the gathering. Noopur Kaushik Bhalla, Senior Manager (Vigilance), MRPL, gave a briefing on the Programme. Chitranjali, assistant professor, gave the vote of thanks. Nanditha Sunil, assistant professor, compered the programme.
 
Valedictory Programme

Krishna Hegde, Group General Manager (Human Resources), MRPL, was the Chief Guest for the valedictory programme which was held in the evening. Jeevandas Narayan, Secretary, WNES, presided over the programme.

In his address, Mr. Krishna Hegde said that corruption retards the social and economic development of the country and directly hurts the poor and middle class. The government has taken various initiatives like RTI and the Lokpal bill to combat corruption. "It is the responsibility of the younger generation to grow up to be good citizens and say ‘no’ in situations where bribes are demanded," he said.

Dr. Shilpi Saha, assistant professor, welcomed the gathering. Lakshmeesha, Chief General Manager (Vigilance), MRPL, gave a report on the programme. Praveen Pinto, Senior Manager (Vigilance), MRPL, gave the vote of thanks. Nanditha Sunil, assistant professor, compered the programme.
