MRPL and MSNIM collaborate for Mission Life Awareness on ’Say NO to Single-Use Plastic’

Mangaluru, November 17, 2024: Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), in collaboration with Manel Srinivas Nayak Institute of Management (MSNIM), successfully concluded the Mission Life Awareness Program, aimed at educating young adults across Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts on the critical need to eliminate single-use plastics.


MRPL Say NO to Single Use Plastic


Launched on World Environment Day (June 5, 2024), the program involved extensive outreach to 55 colleges and engaged approximately 2,800 undergraduate students through an online quiz competition. Covering institutions across Mangalore, Puttur, Sullia, Belthangady, Udupi, Brahmavara, Kundapura, and Sirsi, the initiative sparked widespread awareness and enthusiasm among the youth.

The Valedictory and Prize Distribution Ceremony, held on November 15, 2024, featured vibrant events such as Quiz, Collage Making, Poster Making, Face Painting, and Rangoli Competitions.

Chief Guest Dr. Rudolph V.J. Noronha, Chief General Manager – Corporate Branding and Communication at MRPL, commended MSNIM for their exceptional organization of the program and urged students to take proactive roles in advocating against single-use plastics. He emphasized the need for innovative solutions and leadership in preserving the environment.

Shri Manel Annappa Nayak, President of the Women’s National Education Society, highlighted the alarming impact of single-use plastics on marine life and applauded the shift toward sustainable alternatives such as paper and cloth bags. He called on the youth to spearhead efforts to reduce plastic usage and promote environmental responsibility.

Dr. Molly S. Chaudhuri, Director, MSNIM, delivered the welcome address. Dr. Reema Agnes Frank, Associate Professor, MSNIM, presented the program report. Mr. Victor Raj Menezes, Assistant Manager, MRPL, delivered the vote of thanks. Mrs. Nanditha Sunil and Mrs. Aditi Kamath, Assistant Professors, MSNIM, coordinated the program, while Ms. Shreya Mahale, a student of MSNIM, compered the event.

The program concluded with the distribution of certificates and prizes, celebrating the active participation and creativity of students in fostering environmental awareness.
