Malpe: Fisherman dies after falling from boat

Udupi, September 3, 2023: On August 31, a distressing incident unfolded at sea, resulting in the unfortunate demise of a fisherman. The victim, identified as Manoj San (32) from Jharkhand, met with this tragic fate while fishing approximately two nautical miles off the coast of the Malpe fishing port.

The incident occurred when Manoj accidentally slipped from the boat and into the turbulent waters of the sea. His companion, Keerthan, who was also aboard the vessel, displayed remarkable courage by promptly diving into the sea to rescue Manoj.

Despite Keerthan’s heroic efforts, Manoj’s condition had deteriorated significantly due to the ordeal. Tragically, he passed away while being transported to the hospital for medical attention. The Malpe police station has registered a case in connection with this heartbreaking incident.
