Man arrested for snatching gold chain from elderly woman in Kundapur

Kundapur, March 27, 2025: Kota police have arrested a 38-year-old man for allegedly breaking into a house and stealing a gold chain from a 92-year-old woman while her family was away at a temple.

The suspect, Praveen Kumar Shetty, a resident of Manoor, was taken into custody, and the stolen 25-gram gold chain was recovered.

The burglary occurred on the night of March 20 in Manoor Koikoor, where the elderly woman was home alone. Her family, including businessman Sridhar from Dharwad, had gone to a temple event nearby when the accused broke in and stole the chain.

During the investigation, police found that Shetty, who has a criminal record, had traveled to the area for a temple fair. Analysis of mobile network data and other evidence led authorities to identify him as the culprit.

Further inquiries revealed that he had lived in Hyderabad for about ten years, during which multiple criminal cases were registered against him.
