Man cheated by providing fake gold biscuit for Rs 4 lakhs; complaint lodged

Mangaluru, November 15, 2024: A complaint has been lodged in Kavoor police station by a person alleging that he was cheated of Rs 4 lakhs by a person after promising to give a gold biscuit which the latter reportedly found in a field.

The complainant is Rangappa Bovi Nekkil who hails from Muddebihal in Vijayapura taluk and resides in Ashoknagar.


Fraud


According to the complainant, a stranger called him and informed him that he would offer a gold biscuit which he found in his field for Rs 10 lakhs. The stranger then came to his house along with his wife and promised to hand over the biscuit for Rs 8 lakhs. He also provided gold weighing 05 miligram to check the authenticity. Later he reduced the amount to Rs 4 lakhs and Rangappa reportedly handed over Rs 4 lakh. However later on checking it was found to be fake following which a complaint was lodged.
