Man suspected of bus cleaner’s murder found murdered

Mangalore, Feb 6, 2012: Hemanth Madya (20), the chief accused in the murder of Mani in Chelyar MRPL Colony, was found murdered in the woods near Jantabettu, close to Soorinje, early in the morning of Monday. He is believed to have been murdered by the relatives of Mani, who wished to take revenge on him.

Hemanth of Madya, near Khadgeshwari Temple, one of the suspects in the Mani murder case was absconding. But his murderers obviously knew about his whereabouts. The police had arrested 8 people in connection with this case by the afternoon of Feb 5 Sunday, but they could not trace Hemanth.

 

 

It may be recalled that Mani, a bus cleaner by profession, was murdered by a group of people early in the morning of Feb 5 Sunday. The root of the murder was rivalry between Manikanth and Hemanth. Allegedly, Hemanth and a group of 8 people stabbed Mani to death when he was returning home after participating in a Nemotsava.

Hemanth’s neck bears marks of injury, as if his killers had held a blood vessel before slitting it with a sharp knife. At least 3 – 4 people are believed to have committed this murder.

According to the police, a number of young men who hang around the locality without proper employment had the support of political leaders, owing to which they could easily get out of any legal trouble they found themselves in. These gangs were also addicted to drugs and alcohol.

Hemanth’s body was found in the same place where the body of a woman was recently found.

The police are currently investigating Hemanth’s murder. They have already questioned close associates of Hemanth and are close to cracking the case.
