Mangalore : CCB cops arrest six Chota Shakeel aides; foil murder plans

Mangalore, Dec 13, 2012: In a major breakthrough, the CCB police in Mangalore led by Inspector Venkatesh Prasanna have been successful in arresting six persons said to be associates of underworld don Chota Shakeel ,at Kodialbail in Mangalore on December 12, Wednesday.

Police sources said the accused had conspired to kill and loot a prominent man. The arrested are Suhail Ismail Sheik (23) from Moodbidri, Bombay Ravi (23), Rama (33) from Bangalore, Purushottam (21), Devraj (25) and Vinod (23) from Mysore A Maruthi Zen car, 5 swords, 9 mobile phones, 8 sim cards, 3 ATM cards, and an Aadhar card has been seized. Police have also recovered chilly powder and 3 monkey caps from them.

It is learnt, Bombay Ravi and his associates were wanted in connection with the murder of Bangalore corporator Chandrashekhar Babu In2009. Reports say the six had even met underworld don Rasheed Malabari who is presently behind bars.

Sources also revealed that the six at the behest of Rasheed Malabari had planned to eliminate a prominent person of the city. Of the six, three have cases against them in stations in Bangalore, while Suhail Ismail has a case against him in Ullal station.

Police personnel who took part in the operation are DCIB inspector Vinay S Nayak, Vishwanath K, Circle Inspector , Sanjeeva Purusha, Sub-inspector, DCIB, Shashidar Shetty, Ganesh MP, Ganesh Kalladka, Chandrashekar, Sunil Kumar, Dinesh Bekal Teja Kumar of CCB and Chandra K, Palanivelu KM, Uday Rai, Tharanath, AI Iqbal, Vijaygowda K, Vasu Nayak from DCIB.
