Mangalore, March 26, 2014: Senior Congress leader and party candidate from Dakshina Kannada constituency B Janardhana Poojari filed his nomination at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in the city on March 26, Wednesday. He handed over his nomination papers to Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim who is the District Returning Officer, in the presence of District in-charge Minister Ramanatha Rai, Health Minister UT Khader and legislators JR Lobo and Vasanth Bangera. Incidentally, today is the last day for filing nominations.
Speaking to the waiting media men after filing nomination, Janardhana Poojary said the party has already initiated its campaigning and added the party workers have plunged head on into the campaigning field with the objective of the victory of their candidate. Even the Congress padayatras organised at various places have evoked good response, Poojary said.
The need of the hour is communal harmony, he said and strongly deplored divisive politics. Launching a verbal attack on the BJP for seeking votes in the name of Modi rather than the party or its candidates, Poojary said the fight is with Modi and none else.
Earlier, Poojary visited the Ullal Dargah, Kudroli Shree Gokarnanatha Temple and Milagres Church and offered prayers before filing his nomination.
