Mangalore, Feb 16, 2014: The new building of ICAI (Institute of Chartered Accountants of India) Bhavan which has come up at Padil in the city was inaugurated on February 16, Sunday by K. Raghu, President of ICAI.
In his inaugural address, he said over 10 lakh students are pursuing chartered accountancy through the 45 branches of the Institute spread across the country. Highlighting the role played by chartered accountants in the growth of the nation’s economy, he said many CAs from India are also employed in high positions overseas.
Raghu said ICAI will empower its members with cutting-edge technology in order to secure them better opportunities and avenues. There are also plans to set up ICAI global technology centre, a Cloud Campus, ITT hi-tech labs etc. Research will also get due importance, he added.
He also informed on the occasion that TV Mohandas Pai, Chairman of Manipal Global Education, who is also a CA has contributed Rs 1 crore towards the Corporate Benevolent Fund of ICAI.
Manoj Fadnis, Vice President of ICAI, Jagannath Kamath, Chairman of Mangalore Chapter of ICAI and others were present at the function.
