Mangalore : MCC launches SMS complaint service on garbage problem

Mangalore, Jan 10, 2013 : January 10,2013: The Mangalore City Corporation has launched a new SMS complaint service on solid waste management. A demonstration cum briefing in this regard was held  at the MCC office on January 10, Thursday.

 

Citizens having any problem or grievance relating to garbage disposal and management in their locality can send an SMS to 8123666266 in the prescribed format mentioning the ward number and details of the complaint.

 

Those using the SMS complaint service will get an acknowledgement SMS stating that the complaint has been registered, forwarded to the field officer concerned and would be resolved within a specific time period. The complaint number as well as the mobile number of the field officer concerned will also be provided to the complainant, in the acknowledgement. The complaint service will function round the clock.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Yogish Bhat said three packages with regard to solid waste management for Mangalore have been approved. Citing the same, he said  the government has   approved fitting of GPS system in garbage vehicles and also   M-Governance and SMS complaint service.

Bhat also referred to the government plans of bringing the builders under the Corporate Social Responsibility ambit wherein they will have to contribute to the economically weaker sections through their building projects.
