Mangalore, March 27: With the flagging off the Volvo bus service by the district- in- charge minister J Krishna Palemar on March 27 at State Bank bus stand, Mangalore, the Long waited for the Volvo bus service of Karnataka State Road Corporation (KSRTC) between Mangalore and Manipal came to an end.
A large number of people will commute from Mangalore to Manipal through air-conditioned Volvo buses of Karnataka State Road Corporation (KSRTC), today onwards.
According to a temporary arrangements made by the KSRTC, the Volvo bus will provide service morning 6.30 am to 7.30 pm, daily. It will start journey from state bank bus stand, Mangalore to the destination end Manipal for an hour. Giving more importance to commuter’s convenience, KSRTC also confirmed the stops at fixed places like Surathkal, Mulki, Padubidre and Udupi. They have also set the bus fare keeping in mind the convenience of middle class people. The actual bus fare between Mangalore to Manipal is Rs. 60, Udupi Rs. 55, Padubidre Rs. 40, Mulki Rs. 35 Surathkal 20 and on return it will charge Rs 10 between Manipal –Udupi Rs. 10, Padubidre Rs 30, Mulki Rs 40 and Surathkal Rs 50.
A fleet of six Volvo bus had come from Mysore depot to Mangalore, last month. All the six buses are waiting to run between Mangalore and Manipal, now. Even, it had been taken out for familiarizing the drivers with the route.
