Mangalore, Feb 17, 2014 : The District unit of Missing Child Bureau was inaugurated at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in the city on February 17, Monday.
Speaking after inaugurating the unit, Patil Nagalingana Gowda, President of Juvenile Justice Board, said the authorities must give due attention to the task of tracing missing children
Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim who also spoke on the occasion expressed his concern over the rising cases of missing of children and hoped the Bureau would be able to do justice in its role of tracing missing children.
CWC Chairperson Asha Nayak in her address said the Missing Child Bureau is an initiative of NGOs and delved upon issues that might prompt children to leave their homes. She also underlined the need to trace the children and ensure that such children are not exploited sexually.
The event was blessed by Dr Geevarghese Mar Divannasios, Bishop of Puttur Diocese. Gertrude Veigas, Assistant director of the Department of Women and Child Welfare, Binu Varghese, State Co-ordinator of the Bureau and others were present.
