Mangalore : Rs 8 lakh stolen from parked car at Kulur

Mangalore, Jan 10,2013 : A cash of Rs 8 lakh which was kept in the dashboard of a Swift car which was parked in front of a restaurant near Kulur bus stop on the afternoon of January 9, Wednesday, has been stolen.

The thieves had broken the front window of the car to lay their hands on the cash. The car belonged to Keshava Shetty of Soorinje, a real estate businessman.

According to him, he had placed the cash, the proceeds of the sale of his brother’s land in the dashboard and had gone for lunch. Though he returned within 20 minutes, by then, he found the car windows shattered and the cash stolen.

An inspection of the car revealed that the thieves had first tried to break upon the locks and when this was unsuccessful, had chosen to break the window.

It is a wonder how the incident did not come to the notice of anyone around. Investigations are in progress.
