Mangalore : Seminar on ‘Art Vis-A-Vis Violence’ inaugurated

Mangalore ,Jan9,2013: Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof. TC Shivashankera Murthy has expressed his concern over the rising violence against women and stressed the need for stringent laws to check the same.

He was speaking after inaugurating a two-day National Seminar “ Art Vis-A- Vis Violence” held at Ravindra Kala Bhavan of University College on January 9, Tuesday. The seminar is held in association with the Department of English.

The Vice Chancellor further said violence and atrocities against animals as well as environment is also on an upward trend . Stating that art and violence have been part and parcel of human life, he said contemporary art has to explore and identify forms of violence in a bid to understand and alleviate it.

University College Principal Dr Laxminarayana Bhatta H R, Associate Professor Leela Nair and others were present on the occasion.
