Mangalore: Thousands participate in ‘Walk for Christ’ youth rally

Mangalore, Nov 17, 2013: Mangalore Over 5000 youth from the Catholic Diocese of Mangalore participated in the ‘Walk for Christ’ a Youth rally organised in the city to mark the conclusion of the ‘Year of Faith’ on November 17, Sunday.

Rev. Fr Aloysius Paul D’Souza,  Bishop of Mangalore and  Raymond D’Souza flagged off the rally at Milagres Church grounds. The rally culminated at Rosario Cathedral.

 

The protestors carried the placards with messages ‘Come… let us live for one another’, ‘Forgive and Forget’, ‘Come let us build a peaceful society’, ‘Say no to corruption’. The rally was led by a brass band.

The closing ceremony of the Year of the Faith will be held at Nehru Maidan from Nov 22 to Nov 24 from 4pm to 7.30 pm. The three days programme consists of preaching, praise and worship, adoration, internal healing and Holy Eucharistic celebration.

The famous preacher Rev Vinith, the association of the Catholic Faithful, Varanasi, Rev Joseph Edutu, Devine Retreat Centre, Murinhur, Kerala, Rev Cardoza and Rev Franklin will conduct the programme.

More than 25,000 catholic devotees from Mangalore Diocese and from the neighbouring Diocese will take part in the programme. The convention will end on Nov 24 evening with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist Mass.

He also said that in this connwection ‘the Mega Magnificat 2013’religious programme will be held on December 1, 2013 at Lourdes Central School ground at Bejai at 5 pm.Famous American Catholic Jyas and Hip Hop Singer Rev Fr Stan Porthuna will conduct the programme.
