Mangalore:, Jan 27, 2013: District in-charge Minister CT Ravi has directed the officials to take immediate steps to implement the action plan towards the integrated development of the Ladygoschen and Wenlock Hospitals in Mangalore.
Addressing the Arogya Raksha committee meeting on the integrated developments of the two hospitals, held here on January 26, Saturday, he stressed the need to chalk out a plan to ensure better services to the poor. He said tenders have been invited for works costing Rs 21.70 crore with regard to the upgradation of Ladygoschen Hospital into a 500 bedded hospital.
Earlier speaking at the meeting, Deputy Speaker N Yogish Bhat suggested that the Ladygoschen Hospital be renamed after Ullal’s valiant queen Rani Abbakka and the Wenlock Hospital after Kudmul Ranga Rao, the great social reformer.
Responding to the plea, the district minister, urged the committee to pass a resolution in this regard and send the same to the government.
Yogish Bhat also sought financial assistance from the KMC for the new building of the GNM Nursing Hostel Building which is coming up at a cost of Rs 90 lakh.
The meeting was attended among others by MCC Commissioner Dr Harish Kumar, Deputy Commissioner N Prakash, ZP Chief Executive Officer Dr KN Vijayaprakash and District Health officer Dr Srirangappa.
