Mangalore,Jan 20, 2013: The Mangalore unit of Alva’s Nudisiri was inaugurated by Dr K Chinnappa Gowda, former registrar of Mangalore University at a function held at Milagres College grounds on January 19, Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, he stressed on the need for educational institutions to lay due emphasis on the participation of children in cultural activities, as it is through such activities that Indian culture and tradition can be preserved and promoted. He was also all praise for the organizational capabilities of Dr Mohan Alva, Chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation which was putting in tremendous efforts towards the success of Alva’s Nudisiri, a cultural extravaganza that is being organized in Moodbidri since the past 19 years, thus giving an opportunity to artistes from across India to showcase their talents.
In his address, Dr Mohan Alva said UAE Zone of Alva’s Nudisiri will have its first programme on February 1 and at Bahrain on February 15.
He also requested art and culture lovers to register themselves with the Alva’s Nudisiri Mangalore Zone and extend their patronage to the event.
Fr Dennis D’Sa, Administrator, Father Muller Medical College, presided over the function. Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, District Kannada Sahitya President, Fr Xavier Gomes, Principal of Milagres College and others were present.
A variety of cultural programmes were presented on the occasion by Alva’s students.
