Mangaluru: 2 notorious chain snatchers in police net

Mangaluru, December 11, 2024: CCB Police of Mangaluru have arrested two notorious chain snatchers who were wanted in chain snatching cases in Mangaluru and Karkala.

Those arrested are Habeeb Hassan alias Chombugudde Habeeb alias Abbi (43) of Suratkal and Ummar Shiyaf (29) of Bantwal. Police have recovered a gold chain weighing 17.43 grams, a bike and knife from the arrested men.

Chain snatchers

The two were wanted in the case of snatching chain of an Anganavadi helper at Thaudugoli in Naringana village on December 6. They had entered the Anganavadi centre on the pretext of asking the way to Manjanady and had then snatched the chain of Sujina D’Souza.

In another case reported on December 9 in Bola village of Karkala, the chain of a woman named Vasanth was snatched.

The duo were arrested at Carstreet in Mangaluru based on definite information.
