Mangaluru, Oct 1, 2015 : CCB police have arrested three prime accused in the case of attempt on the life of builder Prakash Pinto near his office at Ebrose Complex at MG Road on September 21.
Those arrested are Aboobakker Siddique(28) of Ullal., Ummar Farooq alias Everest Farooq 20) of Bajal Nantur and Altaf alias Bottu Altaf(28) of Ullal Dharmanagar. With their arrest the total number of arrests in this case has risen to four. One Babu alias Japan Manga was arrested on September 21 itself.
The attempt on the life of Prakash Pinto, owner of Paragon Builders and Promoters on September 21 took place when Pinto alighted his car and was heading towards his office. Four to five youth though had arrived to attack him with machetes in hand, on seeing a large number of people, they had returned and sat in their Chevrolet Beat car and had later taken a hasty retreat. Prakash Pinto had lodged a complaint with Kadri Police following the incident.
The car was traced the same evening near Chilimbi and Raju alias Japan Manga was arrested and the car and two machetes seized. Later it had come to light that a discord between Pinto and a Moodbidri person over business dealings had led the latter to give supari to Raju to eliminate Pinto.
All the three arrested are wanted in several other crime cases. If Siddique was an accused in a case of murder attempt in Kumble Police station limits two months ago, Ummar Farooq was an accused in Sakina murder case in Ullal in 2001, three dacoity and one murder attempt case.
Yet another accused Altaf was involved in 11 cases including five murder attempts and there dacoities. The second and third accused had even failed to appear before court. All the three have been handed over to Kadri Police and investigations are underway.
