Mangaluru: Chaos erupts at MCC general meeting as BJP, Congress spar over water crisis

Mangaluru, January 4, 2025: A general meeting of the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) descended into chaos as BJP and Congress members clashed in a heated verbal exchange over the city’s drinking water crisis.

Opposition members strongly criticized Mayor Manoj and accused the MCC commissioner of corruption. MCC member Abdul Ravoof issued a daring ultimatum, pledging to resign from his membership if the allegations against the commissioner were proven false.

Ravoof raised serious allegations, including corruption in the recruitment of MCC officials, mismanagement of files related to completion certificates pending for over two decades, and misuse of members’ funds. He called on the mayor to formally request a government investigation into the commissioner’s actions.
