Mangaluru, Dec 24, 2016: Bishop Rev. Fr Aloysius Paul D’Souza has said that the Diocese is celebrating Christmas with the theme ’Save Water, Save Earth, Go Green’ this year.
Delivering his Christmas Message during a press meet held at the Bishop House at Kodialbail on December 23, Friday, the Bishop said with the motto of Go Green, the Diocese will be organising various programmes that promote water harvesting, environment protection and increase in ground water levels during the year 2017.
Stating that the messages and teachings of Jesus Christ were relevant at all times, the Bishop said Jesus who was born in a non-polluted environment encouraged his followers to maintain purity both within and outside.
The Bishop also said all Churches as well as institutions under the Diocese have been asked to take up greenery and environment protection programmes.
He also stated that all heads of churches and Diocesan institutions will be issued a circular to refrain from using fireworks during festivals in order to prevent noise and air pollution.
Fr William Menezes, PRO of Mangaluru Diocese, welcomed the gathering. Msgr Denis Prabhu, Vicar General, Fr Henry Sequeira, Chancellor, M P Noronha, Secretary of Diocesan Pastoral Council and others were present.
