Mangaluru Doctor Shivani Bhat secures AIR 11 in NEET-PG, credits online study and strong MBBS foundation

Mangaluru, August 25, 2024: Dr. Shivani Bhat L was thrilled when she saw her NEET-PG entrance examination results, securing an impressive All India Rank (AIR) 11.

A resident of Chilimbi, Mangaluru, and daughter of Gokul Bhat and Gayathri, Dr. Shivani couldn’t contain her excitement upon receiving the news. She completed her MBBS from Kasturba Medical College, Mangaluru.

"The results were announced late on Friday night. I immediately told my mother, and we were all ecstatic. I later spoke to my sister, who is abroad, and we chatted for hours," she recalled.

Dr. Shivani reflected on the challenges she faced when the exams were unexpectedly canceled. "I couldn’t believe it at first, but I didn’t panic. I had invested a lot of effort since deciding to take the exam, even canceling my plans to study in the UK and choosing to stay in India," she explained.

She emphasized the importance of having a set target date, stating, "When the date changes suddenly, it can disrupt all your plans. The cancellation did affect me, but I bounced back and started preparing again."

Regarding her future, Dr. Shivani said, "I haven’t decided on my specialization yet, but I am considering general medicine or radiodiagnosis."

She credited her success to a strong foundation in MBBS, especially in physiological and pathological concepts. "I didn’t attend offline coaching classes, but I subscribed to online coaching platforms and dedicated myself to daily studying," she added.
