Students from P Dayananda Pai and the P Satish Pai Government First Grade College in Mangaluru confronted each other over the issue of wearing a hijab in the classroom.

The Karnataka High Court has reserved its judgment in the hijab case after 11 days of back-to-back hearing.

The principals of both the colleges allowed girl students to wear a cloth around their head and appear for exams in the college. The students were told not to use pins over the cloth which resembles a hijab.

The girl students were met with protests by a few students who asked them to leave the examination hall. An argument ensued between the two groups of students leading to a confrontation. Later, students began to quarrel at the entrance of the college.

The principal had asked the girls to wear shawls around their heads, letters were sent and permission was also taken before appearing for the exam.
