Mangaluru: MP Govind Karajol accuses Congress Govt of corruption, demands Siddaramaiah’s resignation

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, March 22, 2025: Chitradurga MP Govind Karajol accused the Congress government, led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, of being mired in corruption and sex scandals. He stated that the government has lost the moral authority to continue in power. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah should resign and apologize to the six crore people of the state for failing in administration.

Senior ministers in the government have alleged honey trap attempts against them, and a few MLAs have pointed out 48 similar instances involving politicians in Karnataka. Can a government engaged in corrupt practices and illegal activities ensure good administration for the people of the state? Instead, Siddaramaiah should resign, he told the media.

"Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who projects himself as an Ahinda leader, has done injustice to Dalits in the state by diverting funds meant for their welfare. In 2023-24, the state government diverted Rs 11,444 crore allocated for SC/STs. In 2024-25, it diverted Rs 14,000 crore under the SCSP-TSP scheme. In the 2025-26 budget, the net budgetary allocation for SC/ST welfare is only Rs 7,000 crore. Since the Congress government came to power, 3,400 farmers have ended their lives, 730 lactating women have died, and 1,100 newborn deaths have been reported in the state. Additionally, 50 women have been raped and murdered," he said, referring to the law and order situation in the state.

"For vote-bank politics, the state government is isolating Muslims and thereby committing injustice against them. By announcing separate degree colleges for Muslim girls, the government is attempting to isolate Muslims from society, similar to how untouchables were segregated in the past," he alleged.

He urged the government to ensure that all students, irrespective of caste, creed, and religion, study together.

Criticising the 4 per cent reservation for Muslims in government contracts, Karajol said the government should not provide reservations based on caste and religion. "Dr B R Ambedkar advocated reservations for the underprivileged to empower them. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah should not engage in a divide-and-rule policy in the state."

"Karnataka is the land of Sharanas, saints, and Sufi saints. When BJP legislators protested against the government’s maladministration in the legislative assembly, the Siddaramaiah-led government displayed political arrogance by suspending 18 MLAs for six months. Siddaramaiah should watch previous assembly proceedings to see how, as an opposition leader, he thumped his thigh in the assembly and how Congress MLAs dragged the chair of the Legislative Council Chairperson. The BJP could have disqualified them permanently. We had only suspended them for a few days. The opposition has the right to raise its voice against the ruling government,” he added.
