Mangaluru: Olympic standard Swimming pool to be inaugurated on December 19th

Mangaluru Dec 16, 2016: A new state of the art swimming pool that meets international standard at St Aloysious college will be inaugurated on December 19th, informed Principal of St Aloysious College Rev Fr Sweebert D Silva.

Addressing media at St Aloysious College on Friday December 16th, he said that the eight lane swimming pool’s inauguration will be presided over by Rev Fr Stanislaus D Souza SJ Provincial Karnataka Jesuist Province. Minister for Food and Civil Supplies UT Khader, Chief Whip of Legislative Council Ivan D Souza, MLA’s JR Lobo and Abhayachandra Jain will grace the occasion.

He also said that, St Aloysious Alumni Association (SACAA) along with the grants sanctioned by the UGC helped fund the construction process of this pool which came up to an estimated budget of 8 crores.

St Aloysious College’s new pool, the first of its kind in this region. The olympic standard will be a boon to the city as it will be able to host major events that require national or international standards. The pool which is 50 meters long and 25 meters wide with a baby pool and other neccessary infrastucture is suited to host major national and international aquatic events, said the Principal Swebert D Silva.
