Mangaluru, February 18, 2025: The Palakkad division of Southern Railway has rejected the allegations made by retired Indian Air Force officer P.V. Sureshan from Kerala, who accused railway police of assaulting him at Mangaluru Central railway station, resulting in the amputation of his leg.
Railway authorities clarified that CCTV footage from the station provides a clear account of the incident. On February 1, Sureshan, reportedly intoxicated, was found resting on a bench at the station. Railway police instructed him to move away from the food plaza area, and he was seen walking away unaided. This footage has been handed over to the railway police for further examination. The railway department also noted that no other passengers had filed complaints about any alleged assault by railway personnel.
Sureshan was later admitted to Wenlock Hospital for medical treatment. His medical records show that he had high blood pressure and diabetes, which may have contributed to the need for the amputation. The railway department emphasized that there is no evidence to suggest any physical assault or forced eviction led to his medical condition.
