Mangaluru, July 26, 2022: Thousands of tailors took out a protest march from the ground near the Balmatta Shanti Nilaya upto the DC office demanding fulfilment of several of their demands.
The protest was organised as per the call given by the Karnataka State Tailors Association. Over 2000 tailors took part in the protest and urged for the fulfilment of the demands of the tailors through the Unorganised Workers Social Security Board.
The protestors said their demands have remained unfulfilled since several years and warned of severe protest in the days to come.
Jayanth Urlandy, District Committee President of Karnataka State Tailors Association, who addressed the protestors said the government has completely neglected the demands of the tailors.
A memorandum listing out the demands of the tailors was submitted to the Chief Minister and Labour Minister through the DC.
Tailors from across the district took part in the protest.
District General Secretary Prajwal Kumar, Treasurer Eshwar Kumar and others were present.
