The students, who are enrolled in a private college in Balmatta, were waiting for a bus to return home around 4:30 PM near Hampankatta when the tree branch suddenly fell. Since this is a busy area, many people narrowly escaped harm.

Upon learning about the incident, MLA Vedavyas Kamath instructed former municipal member Poornima to visit the spot and directed the District Commissioner and City Corporation Commissioner to cover the medical expenses of the injured and ensure the immediate removal of the fallen branch.

The injured students were admitted to a private hospital. Reports indicate that a few others were also injured and taken to a private hospital in the city. Upon receiving information about the fallen branch, the Pandeshwar fire department personnel arrived and cleared the debris.

"We were waiting for the bus after finishing our college classes when suddenly a tree branch broke and fell. We were immediately taken to the hospital in an auto-rickshaw, and later, we informed our families," said the injured students.
