Mangaluru police arrest two for pelting stones at MLC Ivan D’Souza’s house

Mangaluru, August 28, 2024: Mangaluru police have arrested two men, Bharat alias Yakshith (24) and Dinesh Kurthamogeru (20), for throwing stones at the residence of MLC Ivan D’Souza on August 21.

According to Commissioner of Police Anupam Agrawal, the suspects confessed to the crime, stating that they were angered by Ivan D’Souza’s statements during a protest against the Governor’s sanctioning of prosecution against Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah. A complaint was registered at the Mangaluru South police station following the incident.

A special investigation team, led by ACP Central, was formed to catch the culprits. The team reviewed CCTV footage, checked vehicle details, and gathered information from eyewitnesses, leading to the arrest of the duo. The suspects told police they decided to throw stones at D’Souza’s house after having dinner at a hotel in Mangaluru.

Bharat, from Bolantoor in Bantwal, works as a driver and has three prior assault cases. Dinesh, from Kolnady in Bantwal, previously worked at a private finance institution and has one assault case against him.
