Manipal, Sep 05, 2020:    A leopard which was on the prowl in Saralebettu Vijayanagara Kodi area since the past few days and had created a lot of panic has finally fallen into the  trap laid by the Forest Department during the wee hours of  Saturday.

The locals had earlier intimated the Forest Department regarding the  leopard menace and  had complained that it had devoured their livestock as well as pet animals.

Heeding to the complaint the Forest personnel who had arrived at the spot had  placed a cage  and also tied a dog nearby. The leopard which came hunting for the dog eventually got trapped in the cage.

The Forest officials said the female leopard was around three and a half years old.
