Manipal, November 30, 2024: A 66 year old woman who had been to the hill near her house to fetch grass for the cattle, was found dead on Friday giving room for suspicion.
The deceased is Pushpa Naik, a resident of Nehru Nagar in Saralebettu. She had gone to the hill on November 28, Thursday at around 6 pm but did not return home following which a search was launched. The body was found in the hill which was 200 meters away from her house on Friday morning.
The body bore injury marks on the neck and hands. Initially it was suspected that she might have been attacked by a leopard. But forest officials have ruled out this possibilty.
The son of the deceased woman has said his mother was healthy but had the problem of forgetfulness and that she had been to the hill as usual. As scratch marks were found on the body, doctors are yet to ascertain the cause of death.
