After an invocation by Fr. Walter D’Mello, a huge procession of parishioners commenced at 5:15 p.m. The centenarian Fr. Apolinaris OFM Cap blessed the congregation and special statues of the Lady of Miracles were distributed among the Gurkars of 14 wards. They will be distributed to all the families in the parish. Fr. Apolinaris was born the same year the Milagres Church was constructed and was baptized in the Milagres Church in 1911.

After the ceremony, the congregation proceeded to the grounds of Milagres School for a cultural programme. This was followed by a felicitation ceremony, during which the meritorious children of Milagres Parish were awarded certificates and mementos. The special kids of Milagres were specially recognized and honored by Rev Fr. Walter D’Mello.

A social awareness CD “Aicho Sansar” composed by Stany Baretto was released on the occasion by Rev Fr. Walter D’Mello. Around 1000 CDs were then presented to St Vincent De Paul Society for distribution among parishioners.

The chief guests on the dais were Fr. Walter D’Mello, the priest of Milagres Parish; Fr. Thomas Roshan D’Souza, the assistant parish priest; Fr. Lawrence D’Souza, the principal of Milagres PU College; resident priests Fr. Santhosh Rodrigues and Fr. William Fernandes. A delicious dinner was served to all parishioners who actively participated in the centenary activities.

The grand finale of the Church centenary jubilee celebrations will be held on Jan 16, Sunday at 5:00 p.m. The high mass will be offered by Rt. Rev. Dr. Aloysius P. D’Souza.
