Mangaluru, Jan 17, 2017 : State Minister for Social Welfare and Backward Classes Anjaneya laid the foundation stone for the Ambedkar Bhavan at Urwastores and inaugurated the post-matric girls’ hostel constructed near Marigudi Urwa on January 17, Tuesday.
In his address after laying the foundation for Ambedkar Bhavan, Minister Anjaneya said a longstanding demand of the Dalit community has been fulfilled. He said the Bhavan construction works would be taken up at a cost of Rs 12 crore and added that the construction is expected to be completed by the year end. He also instructed the authorities to take up the construction works immediately. He stated that once completed the full-fledged Ambedkar Bhavan can be utilised by everyone.
DK District in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai who also spoke recalled the several hurdles that had come in the way of the construction of the Bhavan mainly due to the land issue and expressed pleasure that finally the Bhavan would be a reality soon.
