MoS for Railways, Somanna to flag off extended Subrahmanya Road passenger service on April 12

Mangaluru, April 10, 2025: Minister of State (MoS) for Railways V. Somanna flags off extension of two services of Mangaluru Central-Kabaka Puttur passenger train to Subrahmanya Road at Mangaluru Central Railway Station on April 12 , according to Dakshina Kannada MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta.

In a post on X on Tuesday, April 8, Capt. Chowta said: “Gives me great joy to share that our MoS for Railways Shri Somanna @VSOMANNA_BJP will flag off the much sought passenger train - Kabaka Puttur Express - that has now been extended to Subramanya Junction - on this Saturday, 12 April 2025.“ He further said: “Having pursued this with our Ministry of Railways on priority, I am glad to see this long pending demand fulfilled and invite all our Rail enthusiasts and passengers to join this flagging off ceremony this weekend at Mangalore Central Railway Station at 4 p.m.”


Subrahmanya-Mangaluru train


The Ministry had on February 25 approved extension of two passenger train services between Mangaluru and Kabaka Puttur to Subrahmanya Road (SBHR). These services (Train No. 56625 and 56627) now leave Mangaluru Central at 5.10 a.m. and 6 p.m. respectively to reach Kabaka Puttur at at 6.40 a.m. and 7.25 pm. Train No. 56626 and 56628 leave Kabaka Puttur at 7.55 a.m. and 8.25 a.m. to reach Mangaluru Central at 9.25 a.m. and 10.05 p.m. respectively.  

One round trip is operated in between to Subrahmanya Road wherein Train No. 56629 leaves Central at 10 a.m. to reach SBHR at 12.30 p.m. and Train No. 56630 leaves SBHR at 1.45 p.m. to reach Central at 4.25 p.m.

Early departure

With the extension, Train No. 56625 would depart Mangaluru Central at 4 a.m to reach Kabaka Puttur at 5.18 am and SBHR at 6.30 a.m. Train No. 56626 leaves SBHR at 7 a.m. and Kabaka Puttur at 7.50 a.m. to reach Central at 9.30 a.m.  

Train No. 56627 leaves Central at 5.45 p.m. and Kabaka Puttur at 7.05 p.m. to reach SBHR at 8.10 p.m. Train No. 56628 leaves SBHR at 8.40 p.m. and Kabaka Puttur at 9.30 p.m. to reach Central at 11.10 p.m.

They would halt at Bajakare, Kodiambala, Yedamangala, Kaniyur, Narimogaru, Kabakaputtur, Neralakatte, Bantwal and Mangaluru Junction. Southern and South Western Railway were asked to fix an early date for the extension.


Railways to operate Mangaluru-Thiruvananthapuram special


The Southern Railway will operate a special train between Mangaluru and Thiruvananthapuram for two round trips to clear extra rush of passengers during Vishu and Good Friday.

A release from Palakkad Railway Division here said Train No. 06051 Mangaluru Junction-Thiruvananthapuram North weekly special leaves Mangaluru Junction at 6 p.m. on Thursdays, April 10 and 17 to reach Thiruvananthapuram North at 6.35 a.m. the next day.

Train No. 06052 Thiruvananthapuram North-Mangaluru Junction weekly special leaves Thiruvananthapuram North at 6.40 p.m. on Fridays, April 11 and 18 to reach Mangaluru Junction at 7 a.m. the next day.

The train would have one 3-tier AC, 12 sleeper class, four general second class and two luggage-cum-brake van coaches.
